Underground Utilities & Pipe Superintendent Job Description
Bauer Infrastructure is seeking a dependable and experienced Underground Utilities & Pipe Superintendent to oversee field operations for our underground utility and pipe installation projects in Martell, NE, just 15 miles southwest of Lincoln. The ideal candidate brings extensive hands‑on expertise in utility and pipe work, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining safe, efficient, and high‑quality job sites. A successful Superintendent at Bauer directs crews, coordinates installation and alignment activities, and ensures productivity, safety, and workmanship remain at the highest standards throughout every phase of the project.

Underground Utilities & Pipe Superintendent Responsibilities:
  • Review project plans and specifications to plan construction methods and schedule work.
  • Coordinate labor, equipment, and materials for each phase of construction.
  • Direct on‑site crews and subcontractors to maintain workflow and prevent delays.
  • Work with owners, engineers, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve issues and improve performance.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure quality, adherence to plans, and compliance with safety standards.
  • Monitor project progress, labor, equipment, and material costs; adjust schedules as needed.
  • Address public or customer concerns, including property or facility damage.
  • Investigate and report accidents, delays, or site issues; implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with project safety programs, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare progress updates and recommendations for management review.
  • Monitors compliance with project safety program requirements.  Documents and ensures corrective measures are implemented as necessary.
  • Enforces compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules and governmental regulations.
  • Prepare recommendations for management performance evaluation.

Underground Utilities & Pipe Superintendent Requirements:
  • Four (4) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Demonstrates effective leadership by guiding crews, coordinating work, and maintaining a productive, safety-focused job site.
  • Knowledge of trench safety and confined space procedures.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple and large scale jobsites.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, grade sheets and project specifications.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring equipment.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical endurance and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in trenches for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to detect installation issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
